Planning your 1970s-style dinner flight or a private event aboard our 747? Here are answers to the questions guests ask most. For the full journey from check-in to dessert cart, see The Experience.
What is the Pan Am Experience?
The Pan Am Experience is an immersive, 1970s-style Pan Am "flight" and dinner served aboard a recreated Boeing 747 interior at Air Hollywood, the aviation-themed film studio in the Los Angeles area. Uniformed stewardesses, period music, authentic china and glassware and a gourmet multi-course meal recreate the golden era of air travel.
Where is the Pan Am Experience located?
The Pan Am Experience is at Air Hollywood, 27615 Avenue Hopkins, Valencia, CA 91355 (Los Angeles County). You can reach the team at 818-890-0444.
Does the plane actually fly?
No. The aircraft is a detailed 747 interior built inside a Southern California motion picture studio, so the whole "flight" takes place safely on the ground.
What happens during the experience?
Your evening begins at the First & Clipper class check-in desk, where you receive a 70s-style boarding pass, ticket jacket and carry-on tags. You can then relax in the Clipper Club among vintage Pan Am memorabilia before boarding "Clipper Juan T. Trippe", where the crew welcomes you with a cocktail, performs an in-flight safety demonstration and serves dinner. Entertainment includes music, fashion shows and a trivia contest.
What food is served?
The classic menu is a gourmet five-course meal: bread selections; an appetizer such as shrimp cocktail or tomato and mozzarella with pesto; Chateaubriand carved from the trolley with vegetables and roasted potatoes; fruit, cheese and biscuits with port wine; and a dessert cart with digestifs, followed by tea and coffee. Upper Deck seating has included an additional caviar course.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes. Guests with dietary restrictions may request in advance a roasted chicken with peppercorn sauce or a vegetarian pasta entree in place of the Chateaubriand.
Which seating areas are there?
Passengers are seated in one of the cabins: plush Sleeperette seats in Main Deck First Class for a quiet, intimate dinner, the Clipper Cabin dining room, or the Upper Deck lounge, reached by the winding staircase, for a more social atmosphere.
Is smoking allowed?
No. There is no smoking at the Pan Am Experience. The cigarettes you may see in photos are props.
Is there anything to see after dinner?
At the end of the flight, passengers are offered an optional tour of production sets at Air Hollywood, including the original cockpit from the film Airplane!
Can I book the Pan Am Experience for a private event?
Yes. Since opening in October 2014 the Pan Am Experience has hosted birthday parties, weddings, corporate events and fundraisers. The 747 seats up to 48 guests for dinner, and the Clipper Club holds up to 150 guests for cocktails or 125 for a seated banquet. Send an inquiry through the Private Events page.
How do I get tickets and find flight dates?
New flight dates and tickets are posted on the Tickets page. You can also join the Pan Am Experience Insider list on airhollywood.com to hear about new date announcements first.
What is the cancellation policy?
Tickets are non-refundable. If you cannot attend and cannot gift your tickets, please call Air Hollywood at 818-890-0444 to discuss available options.
Will I get photos of my flight?
Yes. About 7 to 10 days after your event, you will receive an email from the Event Coordinator with a link and password to a private photo gallery.
Can I film or photograph at the aircraft set?
